One of the many prizes on offer to delegates from ARMA’s amazing partners at the 2022 ARMA Conference, was a Toro 22" Personal Pace® All Wheel Drive Mower which was donated by Toro Australia.
The winner from the Toro business card draw was David Morrison from Racing Queensland. While David quickly became the envy of the 170+ delegates in the room after the announcement, he had other plans which didn’t consider trimming his lawns at home.
David informed both Toro Australia and ARMA that whilst he was thrilled to win the Toro 22" Personal Pace® All Wheel Drive Mower, he’d like to see it auctioned off with all the proceeds to be donated to Behind the Barriers.
Behind the Barriers is an industry focused mental health support service, which was announced by its founder Jason Petch at the 2022 ARMA Conference that they have generously opened up their service to include all Racecourse Managers.
So under the guidance of apprentice Auctioneer Sheldon Simmonds from Toro, the bidding began and was hotly contested with an opening bid of $400. In the end, it was Trevor Woodham and Maurice Monckton from Warwick Turf Club who held the winning bid of $1.050 when Sheldon smashed down his imaginary hammer on the third and final call.
At the conclusion of the auction, ARMA Chairman Lindsay Murphy announced to those in attendance that the Association would match the money raised through the auction to increase the amount to $2,100 which will be donated to Behind the Barriers.
Many thanks to the generous efforts of David Morrison from Racing Queensland, Toro Australia (who will cover all delivery expenses) and the Warwick Turf Club.
